In May 2007, Mc Carthy announced that her son Evan was diagnosed with autism in 2005.
Before claiming that her son's autism was caused by vaccination, Mc Carthy wrote that he was gifted, a "crystal child", and she an "indigo mom".
She is currently a judge on the FOX musical competition show The Masked Singer.
Mc Carthy has written books about parenting, and has promoted research into environmental causes and alternative medical treatments for autism.
